Founded
by Robert E. Fuisz while a Resident in Medicine on the Harvard Medical Service
of the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.
MEDCOM®
is a pioneer in the use of multimedia communications techniques in the
dissemination of high technology medical information to physicians, nurses, and
allied health professionals.
MEDCOM® learning systems continue to be used worldwide and
subsequently spawned a variety of companies creating a new segment in the
medical information publishing industry.
At
the time of its sale to a Fortune 500 company, MEDCOM®
was the largest company of its kind in the world.
Medicine
Robert E. Fuisz received a medical degree Magna Cum Laude from the Georgetown
University School of Medicine.
This was followed by post graduate training, research, and teaching in
the Harvard Medical School complex.
Dr. Fuisz specializes in the field of Endocrinology and has published
numerous scientific articles dealing with human fluid and electrolyte
metabolism.
His
research contributions on the subject of human sodium metabolism and renal
gluconeogenesis are widely quoted in the medical literature.
Georgetown
University
Dr. Fuisz has served three terms on the Board of Regents of Georgetown University as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Medical Center Affairs and as a member of the Council to the Dean at the Georgetown University School of Medicine. He is a co-benefactor of the Anton and Margaret Fuisz Professor of Medicine Chair at the Georgetown University Medical Center.
The
Fuisz Chair is currently occupied by Paul Katz, M.D., Chairman of the Department
of Medicine and an internationally recognized clinical and medical research
scholar.

Dr.
Fuisz is a recipient of each of the major broadcast awards, including:
Emmy Award. Six time
recipient.
George Foster Peabody Broadcasting
Award
Christopher Award for programming
excellence. Three time recipient.
A CHRISTMAS CAROL received a Royal Charity Premiere in the gracious
presence of Her Majesty the Queen in London.
